Foster care

The Life Center of Hernando is an exciting new project that is dedicated to bringing professional foster care to the children of District 13 in West Central Florida. We plan to offer alternative care for children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected and who can no longer stay in their own homes.

Justification

There are some truly fine foster families, there just aren’t enough of them. As soon as a child has been removed from his home by the state due to abuse, neglect or abandonment, he is in need of foster care placement. The gap between the number of approved foster home beds and the number of foster children needing placement is large and growing. For foster children to thrive – or, in a few cases, survive – that gap must be narrowed.

According to the Florida Department of Children and Families, DCF; there are 9,000 -10,000 children in Florida each year who are not able to live at home or sleep in their own beds because an adult in their family has abused or neglected them. Of course, it is necessary to not only house children but to meet their Social, Emotional, Recreational, Vocational, Educational, and Spiritual needs. That spells SERVES and that is what The Life Center wants to do. We want to serve foster children.

We will decide, as a result of our current resources and admission policy, if we can fully serve you as you need to be served. If we are unable to serve you, we will try to follow-up with a referral to another agency that would be of better service. As always, no matter the case, our prayers will always remain with everyone who comes to us for help. May god bless you always.
